Upcoming 23/24 Season Highlights

In the 2023/24 season, Erina will make her debut with the WDR Funkhausorchester, the North Carolina Symphony, the Nürnberger Symphoniker, the Tonkünstler-Orchester as well as the English National Opera (Die Zauberflöte), the Bregenz Festival (Der Freischütz) and will return to the Orchestra della Toscana in Florence for two programmes. She will also conduct the new production of Elena Kats-Chernin's Nils Holgersson and the revival of Così fan tutte and Die Zauberflöte at the Komische Oper Berlin.

22/23 Season Highlights

This 2022-23 season saw Erina debut with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, WDR Funkhausorchester, Beethoven Orchester Bonn, and the Charlotte Symphony. At the Komische Oper Berlin Yashima conducted a variety of productions and programmes, including Die Zauberflöte, Rusalka, Così fan tutte, Hamlet, and a subscription concert and the 75 Years KOB Anniversary Gala. Yashima also conducted a production of Don Giovanni at the Ravenna Festival, Teatro Galli in Rimini, and Teatro Verdi in Salerno.

First Kapellmeister of Komische Oper Berlin

She joins the company at the start of the 2022/23 season, in which she will conduct various revivals, a premiere and a symphony concert.

The 2021/22 season sees Erina Yashima conclude her position with The Philadelphia Orchestra, where she has been Assistant Conductor since September 2019, assisting Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin and other guest conductors.

She will also make numerous debuts this season, including with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, Orchestra della Toscana, Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal, Albany Symphony, Eugene Symphony, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and Niederrheinische Sinfoniker.

On the opera stage, Erina Yashima will conduct a new production of Così fan tutte in her debut with the Washington National Opera at the Kennedy Center in March 2022. This will be preceded by a production of Dvořák’s Rusalka at the Theater Krefeld und Mönchengladbach.

Erina Yashima conducts Mozart’s Così fan tutte in her debut
with the WASHINGTON NATIONAL OPERA at the Kennedy Center

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Così fan tutte will include an all-star cast, featuring Laura Wilde and Rihab Chaieb as sisters Fiordiligi and Dorabella, Kang Wang and Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Ferrando and Guglielmo, Ana María Martínez as Despina, and Ferruccio Furlanetto as Don Alfonso. Erina Yashima is at the podium in her American operatic debut.

CHICAGO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA to perform first Concerts for Audiences
at Symphony Center since March 2020

CHICAGO—The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association (CSOA) announces the first Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) concert performances for audiences at Symphony Center since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. Three distinct programs, created with artistic guidance from Zell Music Director Riccardo Muti, will be presented May 27 through June 13.

Strum (June 3, 4, 5 & 6)
The CSO performs a diverse program of works led by former CSO Sir Georg Solti Conducting Apprentice Erina Yashima. Opening with the Novelette in A Minor, Op. 52, No. 3 and Novelette in D Major, Op. 52, No. 4 by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, the program continues with Schubert’s Symphony No. 5, and the string orchestra version of Strum by newly appointed CSO Mead Composer-in-Residence Jessie Montgomery. The program concludes with Kodály’s colorful orchestral showpiece Dances of Galánta.

The opera production of “Il Segreto di Susanna - Suor Angelica” at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona has been cancelled: “Fondazione Arena di Verona informs that Il Segreto di Susanna - Suor Angelica has been cancelled because of the inability to adapt scene and direction to the Covid rules to ensure security for artists and all the personnel involved in the production”
